I was lucky enough to see San Francisco and LA in the same week, with a beautiful drive down the Pacific Coast Highway in between. The trip was absolutely amazing, we saw so many great things, ate and drank in so many amazing places and I am already planning my trip back. If you are thinking of going to either place, I highly recommend!
Of course, a trip to the US wouldn’t be complete without a big Sephora haul. I was like a kid in a sweetshop in the Powell Street store in San Fran…and I went back for seconds on the Hollywood Boulevard in LA. It’s safe to say that most of my spending money went on beauty products…whoops!
As well as my Sephora goodies, there’s a few other bits I’ve been loving recently as we ease closer to spring…let me know if you have tried any of them!
Let’s start with the Ambient Lighting blush by Hourglass. It’s impossible not to fall in love with the marbled texture of these blushers, they are so pretty! There are seven different shades to choose from in the collection…I was after a soft pinky colour so I went for Ethereal Glow. This shade is great if you have pale skin like mine, it glides effortlessly on and you don’t need to load up your brush. I can’t wait to expand my collection – I already have my eyes on Diffused Heat and Subdued Coral.
Next we need to talk about my Charlotte Tilbury lip collection. I’ve needed a nude, everyday lip colour for so long now – something I can wear to work every day. I was in London recently and managed to spare some time to pop into Selfridges and the ladies at the Tilbury counter sorted me out with what I was after. I went for the Lip Cheat lip liner in Pillowtalk along with the K.I.S.S.I.N.G lipstick in Bitch Perfect. On the website, it describes this product as ‘the fail-safe recipe for perfect lips’ which is exactly what I needed. I wear without the liner during the day for a casual look, and if I want to dress it up in the evenings I add the liner.
Another Sephora purchase was the Drybar Texas Tea Volumizing Spray. I always struggle with volume in my hair, but I don’t like to use products that are heavy and weigh it down. This spray is light-weight, smells great and adds just the right amount of oomph. I could of easily bought the whole shelf of Drybar products in Sephora, there are so many to choose from and I adore the designs on the bottles…when will they bring them over to UK?! My Dad is visiting New York in May…I may have to send him off with a shopping list!
I’ve been doing my best to look after my skin, nails and teeth as we approach spring…especially as any weather changes wreak havoc with my eczema. I picked up a bottle of Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturising Lotion in Type 2 as it doesn’t seem to irritate my face and it comes with a handy pump. I already use the Clinique Facial Soap as part of my shower routine, so the moisturiser is perfect to use straight afterwards. I’ve also been trialling a teeth whitening powder from Polished Whitening. I’m a little self-conscious about my teeth, and I don’t help things with the amount of coffee I drink during the week …guilty! This powder is really easy to use, you simply dip your toothbrush in and use like normal toothpaste. I’ve been using this twice a week for the last month or so and it has given me great results. Hoping for some pearly whites by the time the sun comes out!
Finally, I managed to get my hands on the new Dew the Hoola liquid bronzer by Benefit. I’ve only used a handful of times so far but I am really impressed with the results. You can use every day as a bronzer, but my plan is to add this to my normal foundation in the summer when my skin (hopefully) tans a little. There’s nothing worse than achieving a great tan, but having to apply a paler foundation over the top of it. Dew the Hoola will be great for showing off bronzed skin, and also gives a matte finish too.
