Following on from my first successful month reading, February definitely had a theme when it came to my book choices. It’s been all about the hustle these past four weeks and I’ve been more active on my blog than I have been in the last four years. I feel like I’ve discovered my love of writing again and I am keen to put my skills in marketing to use when it comes to my little corner of the internet.
For this reason, I’ve been doing my research and reading a lot of motivational books to help inspire me to create more content and further myself. Entrepreneur success stories interest me the most – which is why I chose these books in my February reading list:
If you work in marketing and you haven’t heard of Gary Vaynerchuk – stop right now and go and subscribe to his YouTube channel. Gary is an entrepreneur who rose to success by growing his father’s wine business from $3 million to $60 million in five years. His book, Crush It!, talks about how anything is possible when you are prepared to hustle, put the work in and believe in your passion. I’ve found this book to be immensely helpful, and it has inspired me to work harder, dream bigger and not ‘settle’ for anything less than what makes you happy. I’m really looking forward to putting Gary’s ideas into practice – and hopefully seeing results.
I am only part way through this book, however I can already tell that it is the ultimate ‘playbook’ for any business/individual looking to adopt an inbound marketing strategy. Covering SEO, social media, content marketing, digital tools and PR – there isn’t a stone left unturned by the HubSpot founders. As a digital marketer by day, I sometimes forget to deploy these tactics in my own work – and this book is fantastic for reminding me of some of the quick wins and longer term strategies I can put in place when it comes to my blog and personal social channels. If you are a marketer looking to get ahead of the game – I really recommend picking up a copy.
The Twentysomething Guide to Getting It Together: A Step-by-Step Plan for Surviving Your Quarterlife Crisis (20 Something Guides)
Ah – the joys of being a 20 something! Is it just me or do you hit around 24 or 25 and you suddenly have this moment of…”shit, I’m an actual grown up now!” This book is a mini bible for anybody who already feels stuck in a rut or overwhelmed by having to ‘adult’. I always, always refer back to this book if I am unsure about whether I am on the right path in life or if I need a wake up call that not everybody has it figured out in their twenties. I love reading books with lessons I can take away and put into practice – and this book is full of great advice.
Feeling pretty smug that I’ve managed to get through so many books already this year! Have you read any of the above? Keep an eye out for my next reading list at the end of March.
